# 🚀 I Stopped Watching Tutorials… and Everything Changed For a long time, I felt like I was learning a lot. I spent hours watching tutorials on Next.js, Node.js, React, and MongoDB. Everything made sense while I was watching—I could follow along, write the same code, and even predict what would come next. But the moment I opened a blank editor to build something on my own, I got stuck. That’s when I realized something important: I wasn’t actually learning how to build things—I was just learning how to follow instructions. So I decided to try something different. Instead of starting another tutorial, I picked a simple project idea and forced myself to build it without guidance. No step-by-step videos, no copying code—just me, documentation, and problem-solving. At first, it was frustrating. I got stuck on small issues, made mistakes, and had to search for answers constantly. It felt slower than tutorials, but it was also more real. Over time, things started to change. I began to understand why things worked instead of just memorizing steps. Debugging became easier, and I didn’t panic every time I saw an error. I could make decisions on my own and actually build features without relying on someone else to guide me. That’s when I felt real progress. The biggest lesson I learned is that tutorials can create a false sense of growth. They’re helpful for getting started, but they shouldn’t be your only way of learning. Real improvement happens when you struggle, experiment, and figure things out yourself. Now I still use tutorials, but in a different way. I use them to understand concepts, then I close them and build on my own. If you ever feel stuck or like you’re not improving, try stepping away from tutorials and start building something from scratch. It might feel uncomfortable at first, but that’s exactly where real learning begins.
